Old School Café

FRESH, HOMEMADE, VEGETAIRAN

In a time when so many people are falling through the cracks,
we want to be the hands that catch them.
One Community exists to connect people - across generations, backgrounds, and circumstances - and to create a place where everyone can contribute and belong.

Our Menu

Our menu changes with the seasons, and we regularly update our specials board – written on a classic blackboard as a playful nod to the café’s schoolhouse roots. You’ll also find a tempting daily selection of freshly baked cakes and sweet treats, made with care each morning by our brilliant team.

Beautiful Dishes

We serve fresh, seasonal vegetarian and vegan food made with care and creativity. Our dishes are inspired by what’s growing locally and what feels good to eat – simple, wholesome meals that nourish the body and bring people together.
We work closely with local suppliers and growers wherever we can, and our menu is designed to be inclusive, affordable, and full of flavour. Whether you're after a hearty lunch, a light breakfast, or just something sweet with your coffee, you'll find something comforting, colourful and thoughtfully made.

A Little Bit Of History

Our building was once St John’s Infant School, welcoming children from 1841 to 1972. Designed by the same architect as St John’s Church, the building blends gothic-inspired features with the charm of a Victorian schoolhouse. Over the decades, it expanded to include new classrooms, porches, and cloakrooms – changes you can still trace in the brickwork today.
Fast forward to present day, the space has been beautifully restored and reimagined as a vibrant community hub. Old School Café now carries forward the building’s long tradition of care, gathering, and learning – this time with good food, warm company, and a strong cup of tea.

Everyone's Welcome

Whether you're popping in for a quiet coffee, a comforting lunch, or a catch-up with friends in our secret garden, we’re here to make everyone feel welcome – including little ones and four-legged companions.
